Aeon Mall 1 Phnom Penh, opened in July 2014 and aside from being the largest shopping complex in the city at the time, also brought a new shopping concept to the city. Prior to Aeon Mall 1, Phnom Penh was yet to have any western style shopping malls, so this new destination was able to set the standard for future shopping outlets in the capital. Aeon Mall 1 is a set as a “Two Anchors with one Mall” format, which consist of two or more large-scale anchor stores connected with a mall area occupied by specialty stores.
