Project scope
COVA was not the original design engineer on this project, but was engaged to complete a detailed energy review of the off-grid building services (pool heating, air conditioning, domestic hot water, lighting and controls) serving the eco-pods, after post-occupancy challenges with battery capacity, gas usage and generator operation.
The engagement extended to specifying a new BMS to track and manage energy usage. COVA identified opportunities to reduce energy use by more than 40% and significantly improve site services resilience and reliability.
As a result of this work, COVA became Tas Walking Co.'s engineering partner for all new developments nationally, including recent projects at Kangaroo Island and Uluru.
