Ground was broken for the Naga Philippines Temple on Saturday 8 August 2026, with Elder Steven D. Shumway of the Philippines Area Presidency presiding. Naga City Mayor Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo attended, together with religious, education, military and government leaders from the Bicol region.
COVA’s involvement began before the project was committed, with real estate due diligence on the greenfield site at Barangay Concepcion Grande. With the temple now moving into construction, COVA’s commission has grown: our team provides commercial management (quantity surveying) and project & construction management through to completion. The temple, announced in October 2022, will be a single-storey building of approximately 18,850 square feet on a 3.7-hectare site at the intersection of Almeda Highway and Almeda Avenue, with an ancillary building and a meetinghouse also planned. Elder Shumway described it as “a place of peace and sacredness, a place that will forever divide the light from the darkness of this world.”
It joins COVA’s growing programme of temple work across the Philippines and the wider region, including the Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban City and Tuguegarao City temples.
