Project scope

6 Mill Lane, Oatlands TAS 7120

Callington Mill Distillery was COVA's first greenfield distillery and was largely responsible for kickstarting our foray into distillery projects nationally. We delivered all Building Services, including the various hazardous area safety systems, interfacing with Riskon Industrial Risk Engineers. The development includes some innovative heat recovery technologies, including capture of waste heat from the distillation process (reducing load on the chiller) and re-purposing for hydronic floor heating and kitchen makeup tempering (it is often sub-zero on cold winter mornings). Deciding between gas and electric still heating was challenging for the client, with COVA delivering a cost-benefit model to support the decision making process. The end result was a dedicated substation and a heavily negotiated tariff structure. A very small amount of LPG is used on site for the display gas fire in the restaurant only. Coincidently, COVA were also the first private function to the held at the new venue, hosting our 2022 Property Council Property Congress client event, so we know first hand that it is an incredible venue. Congratulations Cumulus Studio on delivering another of Tasmania's iconic tourism destinations.
