Matt Mappin has joined COVA Tasmania as Design Manager, bringing more than 20 years in architecture and specialised lighting design to the Hobart team.
Matt joins us from a role as Architectural Technician and BIM (building information modelling) Manager, and has delivered complex health, education and government facilities across Tasmania and beyond. His projects include the Australian Antarctic Division’s Macquarie Island Modernisation, the Department of Justice’s Southern Remand Centre and the Burnie Courts Complex.
He holds a Diploma of Building Design, a Diploma of Business Management and BIM Management certification from buildingSMART International, alongside lighting engineering and design qualifications. That mix of design, documentation and information-management skills is exactly what a Design Manager brings to a multidisciplinary engineering team: coordinating the disciplines, keeping the model honest and making sure what is drawn can be built.
Outside work, Matt’s time goes to his young family, bushwalks around Hobart, renovating, and the garden.
