Retail
From flagship fitouts to large-format centres, COVA delivers the engineering, cost management and project delivery that keep stores trading and openings on programme, across Asia-Pacific.
We coordinate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services to suit tight programmes, trading hours and heritage or landlord constraints.
National programmes and one-off flagships
Australia's largest retailers run their store programmes with COVA: Kmart, Target, Myer, David Jones, Uniqlo and Costco among them. The work spans full-store refits, change-of-occupancy assessments, supermarket and large-format tenancies, and shopping-centre fitouts across Asia-Pacific.
Rollout work rewards repetition done well: standard designs adapted to each site, documentation contractors can price without queries, and engineering decisions made once, then applied across dozens of stores.
At the other end of the market, luxury flagships such as Saint Laurent at The Rocks demand one-off engineering inside heritage buildings and landlord constraints. Commercial management and project delivery run alongside the engineering, so one appointed team carries the store from design to opening.
From assessment to opening day
A retail appointment can start well before design. Change-of-occupancy assessments, existing-conditions reviews and landlord approvals often decide whether a store programme holds its dates - COVA carries those early steps, then the engineering, cost management and delivery that follow.
The same team handles the close: commissioning around fitout completion, defects management, and handover documentation the retailer's facilities team can actually use.
FAQs
Retail - frequently asked questions
What engineering does a retail fitout need?
Mechanical services tied into the centre's systems, electrical power and lighting, hydraulics and fire protection, all coordinated with the landlord's base building. The complexity is in the constraints: an existing tenancy box, landlord infrastructure standards, NCC compliance and the client's own requirements, each pulling differently and each balanced against architecture, usability and cost. COVA delivers all four disciplines as one coordinated design so that balance is struck deliberately.
Can you work within landlord fitout guidelines and trading-hours constraints?
Yes. Retail is one of COVA's largest markets, and our designs routinely accommodate landlord technical guidelines, centre management approvals, heritage constraints and out-of-hours construction around trading.
What retail projects has COVA delivered?
Recent work ranges from luxury flagships such as Saint Laurent at The Rocks in Sydney to national renewal and rollout programs for Australia's largest retailers - Kmart, Target, Myer, David Jones, Uniqlo and Costco among them - covering full-store refits, change-of-occupancy assessments, supermarket and large-format tenancies, and shopping-centre fitouts across Asia-Pacific.
