Project scope

880 Berrimah Rd, East Arm NT 0822

A bespoke machine designed specifically to suit the 25.3m container crane rail gauge, the Darwin shiploader is a great example of COVAs ability to design a specific solution to suit client requirements. Our scope involved the design of the long travelling, luffing and shuttling shiploader, the gallery conveyor and the truck dump conveyor receiving product from trucks via a series of vibratory feeders. Since being completed in 2007 COVA has completed yearly machine audits to maintain full operation of the machine. In 2014 COVA and Haywards undertook modifications to the shiploader for both safety and environmental aspects, including a wharf gallery dust curtain and emergency luffing system. COVA have also assisted Darwin Ports with recent repair and minor access upgrade works.
