VIC Volunteer Day

FareShare Victoria is an organisation dedicated to combating food insecurity and reducing food waste in Victoria, Australia. Their mission is to rescue surplus quality food from supermarkets, wholesalers, farmers, and other sources that would otherwise go to waste. This rescued food is then transformed into nutritious meals by volunteers and distributed to those in need including individuals experiencing homelessness, the elderly, and those facing financial hardship. By doing so, FareShare aims to address both hunger and food waste simultaneously, creating a more sustainable and equitable food system.

Our COVA Victoria team had an incredible day volunteering at FareShare, contributing to their mission of fighting hunger and reducing food waste.
 The COVA team:

  • Packed a total of 750 meals - Ensuring that hundreds of people in need receive healthy and delicious food
  • Processed 75KG of carrots - Turning fresh produce into nutritious meals
  • Labelled 200 packages - Ready for distribution

Our team worked together seamlessly, demonstrating the power of collaboration and community spirit, and we are proud to support FareShare's vital work.
