City of Launceston Aquatic Centre

Over the past 3 years, COVA have been engaged with the Launceston City Council on a variety of projects at the Aquatic Centre. Originally our engagement consisted of a high-level energy review of the site to investigate possible key energy (and cost) saving opportunities, including improvements to equipment and controls. This extended to a series of energy modeling projects, BMS upgrade, 100 kW solar PV installation, and other operational changes, but perhaps most importantly was the precursor to a major heating technology change.

Today COVA completed the final inspection of the Heat Pump installation project completed by TCM. This has included installation of 2 x ~650 kW heat pumps capable of operating up to 54degC, impressive acoustic screening, and a 90 kW CO2 Heat Pump domestic hot water system. Officially the Aquatic Centre is now completely Natural Gas free!

Congratulations to the City of Launceston on this huge achievement and we look forward to seeing the savings!
